NO LEFT TURN

ColorWhite with red circle
ShapeSquare
FamilyRegulatory
Where you see itBusy intersections, one-way street corners

What it means

Left turns are prohibited here, usually because the turn would cross heavy oncoming traffic or feed into a one-way street against its flow.

What you should do

Go straight or turn right, then loop back legally. Three right turns make a left, and all three are legal.

Memory trick

Slash over the left arrow = the left door is locked.

The mistake drivers make

Making the turn anyway when the arrow signal is dark. The sign applies at all times unless a plaque under it says otherwise.
